In the US alone, over 4.3 million people left their roles in January 2022 – and this is expected to increase over the coming months.
Currently, 44% of US workers are searching for a new job, and more than 50% of UK workers are looking to change jobs in the next 12 months. This presents a fantastic opportunity for employers to attract talent away from the competition – so, start poaching!
The cost-of-living crisis
In the UK, inflation recently jumped to a 30-year high of 6.2%, and 47% of workers believe that bonuses and salary increases aren’t enough to compensate for this rise in the cost of living. As a result, 37% of the UK workforce are currently considering changing jobs – and the more people rethink their careers, the more open they are to being enticed by poachers.
That being said, the crisis is putting pressure on employers to improve their salary and benefits packages. Up to 56% of US workers said pay is the top reason they would look for a new role with a different employer – in fact, 41% would leave for a 5% increase. As such, only those who get their job spec right and offer the appropriate incentives will successfully poach talent in 2022.
